Dominoes

States with awful gun laws:

  • Illinois (getting better due to CCW ruling)
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Connecticut
  • Massachusetts
  • California
  • Rhode Island
  • Maryland
  • DC
  • Hawaii
States considering awful gun laws with decent probability of passage:
  • Maryland, Connecticut, California, NY, and NJ are all going off the edge with draconian stuff
  • Minnesota
  • Colorado
  • Washington
"Pack up and move" seems to be a dwindling option at the rate the infection is spreading.  Colorado?  Really?  I love Colorado.  It is a great easy going mix of hippies, cowboys, and fundamentalists where somehow everyone gets along.  Until now, apparently they are Californicated.

I am concerned about the long term future of states like Pennsylvania, Nevada, Vermont, and Oregon.  Heck, even Montana, Idaho, and Alaska are being Californicated.

Balkanization continues.

  1. Look at the bills going through in Montana and tell me again how Californicated it is getting... Actually find a single anti-gun bill in Montana...

    HB 240 - Campus carry
HB 302 - Ban enforcement new fed gun control
    HB 303 - Sheriffs First
    HB 304 - Permitless carry
HB 358 - Remove prohibited places for CWP
HB 384 - Student firearm locked in vehicle
HB 446 - Firing firearms not disorderly conduct
HB 468 - Tax break for mfg powder/primers/brass

  2. The problem with Alaska and Montana is that we have low populations with single large cities (Anchorage and Billings, although our problem is worse than yours there). Low populations = Bloomberg's money goes a long ways when buying media, and a relatively small migration in can have big effects.

For some reason Montana sends Democrats to Washington (Senate, including NRA F rated Sen Tester). Your governor (C+ NRA rating recently upgraded to a B-) and several other important executive officials are Democrats. Your Senate and House are solidly GOP right now but as recently as 2010 there was split control.

I hope you get everything through. I just would be careful about the long term.
